Care Guide | With proper care, it will grow softer and more luxurious after each wash. For the washing of Yak Wool garments, dry cleaning is generally the preferred method. However, occasional hand washing is an option, provided it is done thoughtfully, adhering to the following guidelines. HAND WASHING For hand washing, use lukewarm water. You may introduce a small amount of gentle detergent, like baby shampoo or Woolite, ensuring complete dissolution of the detergent beforehand. Avoid any detergent containing bleach, fabric softeners, or bleach itself. Allow the shawl to soak for approximately five minutes before rinsing thoroughly. Subsequently, engage in a gentle hand washing process, exercising utmost care when dealing with any hand-tied tassels on the Yak Wool accessory. DRYING When drying the wet Yak Wool shawl, place it on a towel on a flat surface, avoiding wringing to prevent fiber stretching and damage to the shawl's form. Instead, gently roll the towel and shawl together, , to remove excess water. Afterward, unroll the towel and lift the shawl, carefully restoring it to its original shape. Lay it flat on another dry towel for thorough air drying. Keep in mind that direct sunlight or a dryer should be avoided, as these can result in irreversible changes in the fibers, causing shrinkage and loss of softness. IRONING Yak Wool clothing typically does not require ironing. If wrinkles need to be addressed, you can iron the shawl gently using a steam iron. Direct heat can potentially damage Yak Wool fibers; therefore, avoid excessive ironing for an extended product lifespan. SEASONAL STORAGE When storing your Yak Wool shawl during the summer season, place it in an airtight container alongside cedar wood chips. This will help deter moths and prevent mustiness from developing. CARE FOR YAK WOOL As our shawls are meticulously hand-woven, there may be instances of loose threads and irregular patterns. Caution is advised, especially around sharp edges or jewelry that may potentially damage the shawl. |
